Write Motivation Update & Dracula?

1. Line by line edit third Nether Book. (Currently in progress and almost done).
2. Get third Nether Book sent off to editor. (Gets sent out next Friday).
3. Write another 20k on NA sci/fi  (not happening this month)
4. Blog at least twice a week. (Trying)
5. Comment on more blogs. (Failing)

Pretty much my whole world revolves around getting this last Nether book sent off to the editor on time. Everything else is falling on the back burner. It doesn't help that I am under a lot of other "personal" stress and have total baby brain. My lack of concentration and focus is ridiculous. But I am trying and that is what matters, right?

In other news while I was unfocused and procrastinating on the Internet I came across this:

Excuse me while I scream like a fan girl. First off when I decided to portray one of my vampires off Mr. Hotness himself, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I had no idea about this show. Not until I stumbled across it today. And I was like WHAT!! WHAT!! Let me just say that, I love you NBC. The same creators of Downton Abbey are doing this show so I have very high hopes. Heck, even if it sucks I will be watching it. I am such a huge Dracula fan. It was the one horror story I wasn't terrified of as a child. I have so many different versions of the book and read it at least twice a year, still. So one of my most favorite actors and favorite legends are coming to the small screen means my life is complete. I mean, I honestly think Jonathan knows me from some past life or something. He was Henry Tudor (another one of my obsessions growing up) in the Tudors and now Dracula...you Sir are a wonderful man!

Who is watching this one with me this fall? We should start a Dracula tweet chat. =P

Anything Goes Friday

Been a while since I posted on a Friday. I just couldn't wait any longer. There is a little project I am dabbling with here and there. Nothing serious (yet) but I am loving the characters and it is something very new for me.

Genre: New Adult Paranormal

I have been working on a NA and the Nether books are paranormal, but I haven't pushed the two together before. It's dark. Really dark, murderous and seductive. Let me just put it this way. Vampires don't sparkle. No seriously they don't. Sorry to burst that bubble for you. Back in 2000 I started working on a vampire series. It slowly slipped to the back burner with other projects and I wanted to give this whole vampire craze time to...readjust. I pick with it here and there but today someone mentioned something in a conversation and the light bulb flicked back on. This time it was really bright. Brighter than before. See, about six years ago I got stuck with this story. Stuck and frustrated because all that Twilight stuff that made my blood boil.

Until today.

My vampires are murderous and hungry creatures. They don't hunt animals. They don't sparkle. They are evil and yes there are some who have a small conscious, but they are very few and far between. They don't fall in love with emo stricken expressionless teenage girls and they sure as heck don't fight for the greater good of mankind.

Blood drives them, human blood. There is nothing pretty about it.

I will make the world fear vampires again and at the same time fall in love with them for all the right reasons. You can't love something without a little bit of hate. These are my characters. You'll love and hate them and in the end hopefully you'll be starving for more.

Here are the two main characters:

I have wanted to write with the inspiration of my MC's being Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Natalie Dormer for years. And this revamped vamp story is perfect. It takes place in the present and the past and these two are so inspiring. Heck, they're gorgeous.

Gorgeous and by the looks of that picture...deadly.

*insert evil laugh here*

And here are the two main theme songs for this little diddy:

Garbage - I Would Die For You
Romeo and Juliet Soundtrack

Lana Delrey - Young & Beautiful
Great Gatsby Soundtrack

Oh and the title to this steamy read: The Soulless
 *squee*

Have a great weekend everyone

WIP Wednesday

Book: Nether 3
Current Word Count: 55,102
 Draft 1:

Don't pay too much attention to that word count. It doesn't look like it went up much since last week but trust me it has. I am not counting the last three chapters that were written way back when I finished the first book in the series. Odd as it may sound, I am going to rewrite those after I clean up this draft (thus putting it in 2nd draft form as of tomorrow) and then add them to the MS. That way I have info from my beta's and CP's and can make sure everything adds up and the plot is solid. Essentially the book will be over 60k words unless I can find some fat to trim somewhere.  And lets face it, there is always fat to trim in first drafts. Always! =P

On that note here are some songs that have inspired that last few scenes of this novel. If some are repeats, I apologize. Authors have a way with hitting repeat in their music player. What can I say. =)

Season 4 OST from The Tudors - "Surrey Found Guilty"
Composer: Trevor Morris (this man is a God with music)!

Season 2 OST The Tudors - "Anne Begs Henry"
Composer - Trevor Morris

Rihanna - Stay
A repeat, but the chorus plays such a huge part in the end of the Nether series. All the lyrics really but dang that chorus...

This song has been Ava and Devon's theme song through all three books. So of course now that I am at the end you better believe this song has been on repeat a lot! Sorry it is a link, blogger wasn't cooperating with the youtube video. It is a safe link. =)

And now I will bore you with some character videos. *I did not create these. Other wonderful people did for movies and such. I just found some I fell in love with. I don't claim to own them either. They belong to the people that created them.*

Channing Tatum & Amanda Seyfried in Dear John.
Video creator: Sofia Flores

Amanda has always been my Ava. Channing works as a very hot Devon (but he is not the original actor I visualized Devon after). If he were I think the series would never end. Who can ever say goodbye to someone like Channing?

Amanda & Shiloh Fernandez as Peter and Valerie in Red Riding Hood. This would have to be Ava and Kaine. And omg this song!!!
Video Creator: FENRIIIR

That is all for today. I hope you enjoyed the songs and videos. I will still  be doing WIP Wednesdays as I have my sci/fi dystopian novel to finish in June. Again, it's sad saying goodbye to a trilogy of books that helped define the writer I am becoming.

P.S. I was invited to be a contributing author on the wonderful Untethered Realms site. These authors are amazing and it is an honor to be working with them.
Check us out on Facebook: Untethered Realms
And stayed tuned because we have a new and awesome blog site in the works.

#Writemotivation Week 1 Update

It is that time again! I missed March =(, but I am back with a vengeance for May! Here are my goals for this month:

1. Line by line edit third Nether Book.
2. Get third Nether Book sent off to editor.
3. Write another 20k on NA sci/fi
4. Blog at least twice a week.
5. Comment on more blogs.

Not sure I will even get to number 3 like I had planned. This third and final Nether book is draining me, but it is worth it. It will be all wrapped up this week, minus edits, and sent to the editor no later than May 24th.

Like I said it is hard saying goodbye to a series.  Really hard. Both emotionally and writerly. There are so many things to wrap up. So many character's to finalize their individual parts. That and everything I've been  building up to is finally happening. Dear Lord, it is scary. I love it, though.

So essentially goals one and two are going well. I may or may not have to skip number three and numbers four and five are a work in progress. All in all I am feeling pretty darn good. =)

Time to get back to writing!

WIP Thursday

So, I forgot to post yesterday. Mainly because I was knee deep in writing. Which is a very good thing. This book will be finished by this weekend. YAY. Here is where I am currently at:

Book: Nether 3
Current Word Count: 53,022
Draft 1:

And here is the music that has been pushing the muse along:

Soundtrack - Battle Los Angeles. Song - Regret
Brian Tyler
This is a gorgeous soundtrack and I write to it often.

Birthday Massacre - To Die For
(I love this band)!

Bat for Lashes - Sleep Alone

Nemesea - If You Could

See you next week, with a finished novel!! =)

WIP Wednesday

Book: Nether 3
Current Word Count: 42,449
 Draft 1:

Yes, I am actually posting today. =P And do you see that word count up there? Do you know what it means? It means progress my friends, something I've been struggling with too much lately. So I am happy to see it climb. There are another 10k words getting plugged in this week as well. Which means *drum roll*

I will be finished with this draft next week if not earlier!! I've already sent the first half of it out to my beta readers/CP's and I am eagerly awaiting the shredded  bits of paper they return to me. =P I know one of them said they were getting out their flamethrower and chainsaw and those are always good signs, right? Haha.

I've also got the artist working away on the cover and I am in the process of locking down an editor. Sadly mine is booked up, but I have been contacted by some really great free lance editors and having to choose just one is really hard because they all look so great!!

Anyhoo, here is the music muse that has been inspiring me as of late. Sorry if some of them are repeats, but hey, an author's play list is often put on repeat.

Counting Crows - Color Blind

Withing Temptation - What Have You Done Now

Bat for Lashes - I'm On Fir

Limp Bizkit - Behind Blue Eye
I love music. I really, really do.

It's nice finally seeing the end of this novel in sight and bittersweet at the same time. I'll miss these characters. They've helped define me as a writer in ways I can't properly describe. I've never claimed to be the next J.K. Rowlings and I know these first three books aren't the next great novel series. However, they've shaped me and my writing. They've taught me to be brave and believe in my craft. I've grown with each one and I can never thank their muse enough. Nor all the friends and family who have believed in me along the way.  Letting go is hard and again, bittersweet.
